OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The Philogyny Global Alliance, a movement by and for all genders, founded by Suze Allen, Kari Hirst Starkey, and Peter Welch, to promote Philogyny - the love, respect and admiration of Women and Girls as well as women's work and the soft but strong spaces women make for us in the world. Philogyny is the antidote and antonym for misogyny. Philogyny is the repellent for the oppression of the patriarchy, which has wreaked havoc on a global level for far too long. Philogyny can dismantle the adverse effects of the patriarchy.

Philogyny is a way of being that supports creativity, emotional intelligence and availability, holds pain and suffering, sparks evolution, grows empathy and embraces women’s witchy ways, intuition and inner knowings, encourages time in nature and awe, both in solitude, and in community, as well as fosters artistic expression, authenticity, and inclusivity. 

As Philogynists we believe the universe and all its realms support us when we practice reciprocity and kindness and revere women's gifts of womb love, nurturing, connecting, caring, and problem solving

The Philogyny Global Alliance's mission is to emanate love, inclusion, strength, empathy and understanding; to change the world like fluttering butterfly wings change the way the wind blows, a leaf falling into a stream redirects the water, and a loving heart, full of adoration and compassion spins a web, an antidote to loneliness.

Kari, Peter, and Suze are committed to extolling the gifts of the Divine Feminine that created us, buoys us, saves us, illuminates our path with levity and shows us a softer, more tender way of being in the world. We believe Philogyny and the Divine Feminine teach us how to receive each other in compassion and create policy and community together that is centered on empathy and love.

SUZE ALLEN

Suze Allen has long been a votary of the shared story and its innate ability to carry the human spirit forward. She believes the divine feminine exists in all of us regardless of gender ~  joy and art are paths of resistance ~ woman’s work is the work of a vibrant humanity. The sensual softest of women is a powerful landing place to receive nurturing, nourishment, and all-encompassing love. The recipient of her grandmother Meme’s unconditional love has seen her through her darkest times and restored her hope time and again. Suze creates safe and sacred workspaces for writing and living fully engaged in our senses and reveling in our humanness. Love is all. The Philogyny Global Alliance promotes respect and admiration for woman and girls and women’s ways and women’s work.

KARI STARKEY

Kari Hirst Starkey’s work has moved from theatre and comedy to the coffee world, and now to co‑leading a secular, nonprofit organization. Her path has always been upheld with creative, strong, wild women.  Their love & support, art, and collaboration connect her to the bigger love of cosmic spirituality, while performing the roles of daughter, friend, partner, wife, and mother.  Knitting, needlepointing, and embroidering is what keeps her hands busy and heart light.

PETER WELCH

When I began teaching in the Women's and Gender Studies department at UNH, I was anxious to discover a word that countered misogyny. I suspected that the courses I taught would address many aspects of personal, community, and institutional misogyny, and although I believed that space within the classroom to share personal experiences with misogyny was essential, I didn't want the conversation to end there. "What is the antithesis of misogyny," I wondered. It didn't take much to find the answer.
A simple Google search provided me with PHILOGYNY: "The love of, admiration for, and respect for women or girls."
My goodness, there it is, hiding in plain sight all along. The antonym to misogyny. I was thrilled to discover this wondrous word. Why had I not ever heard Philogyny uttered before? Now, I look for ways to bring this word into everyday conversations. If words create worlds, then it’s essential that Philogyny lives and breathes within our collective vocabulary, our community consciousness.
